His first film role was in Satyajit Ray's Seemabaddha. He starred in Ray's Ganashatru (Enemy of the People, 1990), Shakha Proshakha (Branches of the Tree, 1990) and Agantuk (The Stranger, 1991). He has acted in many art house and commercial films.
